Our printing service at a glance

  • We use archival 100% cotton 390 gsm canvas (the thickest 100% cotton available)
  • We use pigment inks which display far more colours than solvent, flat bed or dye-sub ink/printer combinations and are very uv resistant. We use Epson printers, with genuine Epson pigment inks
  • We laminate because it needs to be laminated, we do not use pre-glosses canvas. Our laminate has high flexibility, uv blocking, scratch resistance and anti-fungal properties. It is also low sheen and ultra clear. It is sprayed on using a high volume, low pressure spraying system.
  • Kiln dried, locally supplied stretcher bar, 32cm thick (unless you request narrower profile) made for your jobs as we order, we do not stock ready made imported/standard sized stretcher bar, they are custom made for your canvas and just because they are the unseen part of your canvas they are still important! They are extremely solid and have a beveled edge to prevent canvas from touching the frame inside from the edge and creating a framing line over time.

How big can my image be printed?

DPI: Firstly we look at how many pixels (dots) make up your digital image.

An image that is 2000 x 1500 pixels at the recommended resolution of 300 DPI can only be printed at 7 inches x 5 inches or 17.5cm x 12.5cm,

This is perfect for photographic images onto photo paper but canvas can be a lot more forgiving. So we can push an image to 100 DPI, giving us a much larger canvas of 20” x 15” or 50cm x 37.5cm (multiply your inches by 2.5) 2000 x 1500 pixels= 20”x15”= 50cm x 37.5cm.

Remember if you half the DPI you half the quality.

Small images

There are a few ways to ensure better results if it simply has to be that image!

Firstly we can make your image into black and white or sepia, this makes it harder for the eye to see any pixilation, noise or other artefacts. You can convert the image when placing an order.

Upload your image (or just enter the pixel dimensions) and our image calculator will recommend frame sizes and show you an online proof.
